HEATH GAIN ANOTHER 3 POINTS
Heath turned on the attacking style as they travelled to Bosham and gave a fluent performance of good crisp passing, great movement and quality finishing – although the home goalkeeper performed superbly with the help of his woodwork, to restrict Heath to only three goals when they could have scored any number.
From the start the match was played in the Bosham half with Heath creating chances at regular intervals. A couple of saves had kept the game scoreless before Kevin Cooper gathered the ball on the left of the box with his back to goal, a quick shift of the feet, a shot on the turn and the keeper was picking the ball out of the net for the first time. Lee Newman was convinced he had applied the vital touch but was overruled by the other players. For the rest of the half Bosham were restricted to long balls that generally ran through to Chris Turner who was then distributing to his defenders, all of whom are comfortable on the ball, and they started to build from the back and the ball stayed on the deck. Luis Frietas and Rob Cooper were providing speed and width on both flanks and a constant supply of quality balls into Cooper and Newman who were both foiled a couple of times each by the Bosham keeper, who was responsible for the score being only one nil at half time.
Within fifteen minutes of the second half starting Heath had added another couple of goals when first Lee Newman played a neat one two with Mark Beard and timing his run into the box to perfection slotted coolly past the keeper, and then Luis Freitas was played into space on the left of the box, he beat the last defender and drilled the ball across the keeper for number three. The game was now won and Heath made their substitutions so that everyone got game time prior to Tuesday's cup semi final and for short spell the formidable defence looked a little ill at ease. It didn't stop the attacking and one of the highlights was Louis Wright intercepting a pass on the edge of the area, he passed and then set off on a run down the right wing and was on hand to provide a cross from the touchline level with the Bosham area, that led to Newman being frustrated by the keeper again when he met the cross. Bosham then when and scored after some hesitation in the Heath defence, but this seemed to wake the visitors up and they created more chances that they were unlucky not to score from, one where Louis Wright tried to back heel the ball into the net from close range and failed, and one where Olly Day controlled the ball brilliantly high on his chest and swiveled to crash the volley against the bar with the keeper diving for cover.
Shortly after that the final whistle blew and three more hard earned points were in the bank for Heath as they continue their recent good form and they stay second in the table. Heath have a Divisional Cup semi final against Saltdean on Tuesday 24th, and then they are looking for more League points this Saturday 28th March when they are away against Little Common with a 3.00pm kick off.
